Cautiously optimistic! While I don’t/can’t rely on entertainment co’s to ‘parent’ (insert great responsibility quotes here) isn’t this an exciting opportunity to show that beauty is found in every form and healthy relationships don’t mean losing your voice (or body harm)? I was NOT a fan of the original Disney Little Mermaid because while I loved seeing redheads get some great attention and mermaids are awesome...I hated seeing another girl who felt pressure to silence herself and go through harmful painful processes to alter her body to “get” the man.
Great choices with casting Ms Bailey-can’t wait to hear Halle sing!!
And 👍🏼 for growth in handling subject matter, progress so far in the live-action adaptations, hope the positive trend continues with #littlemermaid
Hoping the story can include the important message that her voice and what she says or sings matters, positive body ideas (like maybe not hurting yourself to win love)
And let’s give the Prince Eric’s some more credit for being intelligent, knowing who they want, and seeing what really matters too. And obvs I am not a paid Disney employee, this character does not belong to me, I will not resell or otherwise get compensation for this Disney owned character (unless they want to talk! Love them!) This is a fan art piece only :)
